Welcome to

People Plates Planet!

We are a high-school student-led movement aiming to recover surplus food from school campuses and divert it to feed those suffering from hunger. We fight for a sustainable planet and a habitable future by conserving all the water, energy, and resources used in producing the otherwise wasted food into nutritious meals for the community's most vulnerable members.

People Plates Planet was officially launched on Earth Day, April 22, 2022, at Palo Alto High School (Paly). We held an educational campaign to raise awareness among the student body on how we could help support a more sustainable planet by simply donating unwanted lunch items in the food recovery boxes that we set up. This surplus food was delivered to a local community partner to help feed those suffering from hunger. As an additional benefit, we also are eliminating the amount of waste that ends up rotting and polluting in landfills.

Our launch is featured in Palo Alto Online, and Paly's InFocus News highlighted our operation through People Plates Planet Club.
